April Election Returns

New faces will join a number of school boards across the Ozarks, while school money issues did very well at the polls on Tuesday.

Here are the final returns on some of the races we’ve been following: .

Two newcomers have been elected to the Springfield R-12 School Board. Kelly Byrne and Steve Makoski were the top two vote-getters in Tuesday’s election. Here are the final vote totals, with 100% of the votes in:

Kelly Byrne: 10,119 votes (26.54%)

Steve Makoski: 9,549 votes (25.05%)

Charles Taylor (I): 8,432 votes (22.12%)

Brandi VanAntwerp: 8,121 votes (21.30%)

Chad T. Courtney: 1864 votes (4.89%)

Republic School Board member Travis Edwards has won re-election in Tuesday’s election. He’ll be joined by Robin Davidson. Here are the unofficial final returns in that race:

Travis Edwards (I): 36.47%

Robin Davidson: 28.08%

Reggie George: 23.81%

Dave Daniel: 10.91%

The Greenfield School District no tax increase levy passed with 72% of voters saying yes to “Proposition Wildcats.”‘

In the Ozark School Board race, incumbent Sarah Adams Orr was the top vote getter with 29%, while Mark Jenkins comes in second with 27%.

Voters in the Ozark School District have approved a pair of money issues.

The district’s no tax increase bond issue passed with 64.1% of the vote, and the district’s 10 cent no tax increase levy transfer passed with 56.1% of voters saying yes.

With 100% of the vote in, the Ozark 3/8ths cent sales tax issue has passed with 69% of voters saying yes.

Nixa Fire Protection District Bond Issue (Issue General Obligation Bonds of $6.4 million for constructing, furnishing, and equipping a new fire station):

Yes: 76%

No: 24%

City of Billings Proposition 1 (Use Tax Issue):

Yes: 67%

No: 33%

City of Ozark 3/8ths cent sales tax continuation for streets, pedestrian pathways, and bridges:

Yes: 69%

No: 31%

Village of Saddlebrook Proposition A ($370,000 bond issue for roads and bridges):

Yes: 75%

No: 25%

In Stone County, voters have passed Proposition P, a law enforcement sales tax.

Yes: 77%

No: 23%

In Barry County, with 88% of votes counted, the law enforcement sales tax was passing 54%-46%.
