Elderly Driver Travels Wrong Way on Interstate 44; Kills Two Teens

Two teenagers are dead after an elderly driver traveled the wrong way on Interstate 44 and struck their vehicle head-on.

Just after 9 p.m. Sunday night 85-year-old Evert Hair of Billings was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound in the westbound lanes. He struck a 2002 Honda Civic head-on.

There were two teenagers in the Honda: Izik Fudge, 17, and Naveah Aust, 17, were both from Mt. Vernon.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

The deaths are Troop D’s 10th, 11th, and 12th fatalities of 2021.
