Former Carl Junction Bus Driver Sentenced to Prison for Child Sex Crime

A former Carl Junction school bus driver will spend time in prison after pleading guilty to contact with an underage girl.

Dennis Frakes, 68, was sentenced Monday in Jasper County Court to four years in prision as part of a plea agreement. The deal that was brokered on November 2, 2020 included dropping a count of second-degree statutory sodomy.

Frakes admitted having sexual encounters twice with a female student while working for the Carl Junction School District. The girl was not a rider on bus, nor did any contact take place on the bus, but inside Frakes’ vehicle and at his home.

Frakes was a seven year employee who was fired when the allegations came to light.
