UPDATE: Two Dead and Two Injured in House Fire on Lone Pine in Springfield

The Springfield Fire Department says two people have died from injuries in a house fire in the 2000 block of south Lone Pine.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire conditions when they arrived at the home between Sunshine and Seminole just after 6:30 a.m. Friday.

Firefighters say a 40-year-old woman and a six-year-old girl died at the hospital after being found in the home during search and rescue operations.

Two other children, a 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy remain in critical condition.

The fire remains under investigation by the Bureau of Fire Prevention.

Four people are in the hospital following a house fire Friday morning in Springfield.

Fire crews say flames broke out at a house in the 2000 of south Lone Pine around 6:30 a.m.

That’s between Sunshine and Seminole.

A news release from the Springfield Fire Department says when crews arrived on the scene, they were met with heavy smoke and fire conditions.

They located four residents during search and rescue operations, and all four were taken to Cox and Mercy hospitals.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
