They may have not been wearing a red suit or had a belly that jiggled like a bowl full of jelly, but for a group of kids who will be spending their Christmas at the Harmony House shelter, it was as if Santa Claus had come to town.
Deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office delivered Christmas gifts to the children at the shelter Wednesday.
“We are truly blessed that the employees of the Greene County Sheriffs Office or so giving to others in our community,” Sheriff Jim Arnott told KWTO. “This fundraiser was done by employees contributing money to make the children at Harmony House’s Christmas a better one. We do regret not being able to hand out the presents and read Christmas stories with them this year but due to COVID-19 we thought it best that operation Sheriff Santa Utilize the delivery option this year.”
The funds used by the deputies were raised during the department’s participation in No Shave November and Don’t Shave December. No taxpayer dollars were used in the event.
