Police Identify Homicide Victim in Marionville as Search Continues for Suspect

UPDATE: Police Chief West Coatney tells KOLR-10 the victim in the homicide in Marionville has been identified as Jess Davis, 50.

Authorities are searching for Jamie Lee Godfrey, who is known to frequent the Aurora and Marionville area, and are seeking charges against Godfrey for murder and armed criminal action.

Several law enforcement agencies are investigating a homicide in Marionville.

Police say they found the body of a 50-year-old man after responding to reports of a disturbance at a home in the 400 block of south Central just before midnight Tuesday night.

The victim had several lacerations to his body.

Officers say they have a suspect and are actively searching for that person.

The weapon believed to be used by the suspect has been found.

Police say there’s no threat to the general public.

The Marionville Police Department, Aurora Police Department and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office are all involved in the investigation.
