Police in Monett say a man has been arrested after allegedly shooting his father over a dozen times.
Prosecutors charged 27-year-old Michael Creekmore Tuesday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Robert Creekmore.
Investigators say an argument between the Creekmore and his father instigated the argument, as Michael had accused his father of abusing him.
According to Creekmore’s statement, he said his father advanced towards him, that’s when he pulled out the gun and opened fire.
Police responded to the area of 2nd Street in Monett after the 27-year-old called to report the shooting at around one p.m. Monday afternoon.
An autopsy revealed Robert Creekmore was shot 19 times.
