Man from Springfield Files Lawsuit Against Bass Pro Shops

Court documents show that a man from Springfield has filed suit against Ozarks based Bass Pro Shops for allegedly misleading customers on product warranties.

In the lawsuit, filed by Kent Slaughter, he accuses the company of misrepresenting a pair of socks he had purchased that had a lifetime warranty.

The socks, “Redhead Lifetime Guarantee All- Purpose Wool Socks” are sold with a lifetime warranty. According to Slaughter, the product is also marked with a saying that the socks are, “the last socks you’ll ever need to buy.”

Slaughter says in the lawsuit that he purchased 12 pairs of the socks over the course of seven years, and had exchanged several pairs for new ones up until 2021.

He attempted to return multiple pairs in 2021 when he says a clerk said the exchange could no longer take place, and was given socks that were different and had only a 60-day warranty.

In doing so, Slaughter believes the company understands that the warranty will no longer be honored.
