Employees of Mercy Hospital in Springfield who did not get vaccinated against COVID-19 by the company’s September 30th deadline will have a chance to stay employed by the health system.
Mercy is now placing those unwilling to get the vaccine on unpaid leave for a month.
At the end of the month, those still unvaccinated will be terminated from their positions.
Mercy says this leave is a second chance for employees to get the vaccine, as the vaccination will become a condition of employment beginning this month.
