Springfield Police are investigating a series of car crashes that involved two people with gunshot wounds.
Police received a call of gunfire Thursday afternoon.
On their way to investigate the shots, they saw a car crash at the intersection of Sunshine and Campbell.
It was discovered the driver and passenger of car which caused the wreck had both been shot.
The driver had life threatening injuries.
The passenger and the occupants of the two other cars were all taken to an area hospital.
The intersection was closed for about an hour.
