Police: No Criminal Charges at This Time in Fatal Shooting on North Kellett in Springfield

UPDATE: Springfield police say they’ve reviewed this case with the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office and no criminal charges will be filed at this time.

Officers identify the man found shot to death outside of a home on Kellett near High as Ryan L. King, 47, Springfield. He died at the scene.

The Springfield Police Department Violent Crimes Unit identified a suspect, a 24-year-old man from Long Lane, Missouri.

The man was arrested and booked into jail on probable cause for second degree murder.

Detectives continue to investigate the case and ask that anyone who has information is asked to call the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).

Original Story: Springfield police say one person is dead after a shooting in north Springfield.

Investigators say that officers were dispatched to a home in the 2200 block of North Kellett Avenue around lunchtime because of shots fired. They arrived to find the victim of the shooting dead in the front yard.

A suspect was on the scene and officers took them into custody. Investigators say a dispute between the two neighbors lead to the shooting. The alleged shooter is cooperating with police.

Police have not released the name of the alleged shooter or victim.
