Springfield Police Release Victim’s Name in Shooting on South National

Springfield police have identified a man shot to death on the parking lot of the Taco Bell on National north of Battlefield late Monday night.

Officers say Malcolm James, 28, Springfield, was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

A suspect has not been identified, but police say it’s not believed to be a random shooting as the victim and suspect knew each other. .

Around 11:30 p.m. Monday, police put up crime scene tape around Taco Bell and Cash Title Loans. That tape was removed by 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
