Police Arrest Second Suspect In Officer-Involved Shooting at Kum & Go in Northeast Springfield

Springfield police have arrested a second suspect in connection with an officer involved shooting Tuesday at a Kum & Go near Highway 65 and Kearney.

Officers went to the convenience store to question someone who was wanted, when two men fired shots at them.

Police fired back. One of the men is hospitalized with non life threatening injuries after being hit. The other one escaped. Police searched a motel near I-44 and Glenstone for the suspect, but couldn’t find him.

Some officers remained on the scene at the motel overnight and saw the man walk out of the motel Wednesday morning.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck. Officers believe he was grazed by the bullet.

No officers were injured in the incident.
