At Least Two Probable Tornado Touchdowns in the Ozarks Overnight

Damage assessments teams from the National Weather Service will be looking at damage Monday after reports of two tornado touchdowns overnight Monday morning in the western Ozarks.

Emergency Management in Newton County reported a possible tornado just after 1 a.m.

There was damage to a building five miles southwest of Neosho, with large trees down near the intersection of Palm and Jaguar Roads.

The National Weather Service also detected a Tornado Debris Signature in this same area, further confirming a potential twister.

A second round of storms led to Tornado Warnings being issued for parts of Barton, Jasper, Dade, Cedar and Vernon Counties between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m.

Tornado sirens went off in the Lamar and Golden City areas. A tornado was spotted on the ground near Golden City around 4:45 a.m.

We had reports near the Jasper/Barton County line in the Dudenville area of damage to a home, a tractor implement flipped over, and a barn destroyed, with multiple power lines down.

In the city of Carthage, reports came around 5:00 a.m. of power lines down, power outages and tree limbs down.
