Saturday Flooding Update: High Water Closing Many Roads in the Ozarks

Many roads have been closed across southwest Missouri Saturday due to heavy rains, including Highway 215 near Pleasant Hope, Highway Y east of Elkland and southeast of Bolivar, Highway CC in northern Greene County, Highway 97 near Stotts City, and Highway AB near Mansfield.

Check out road closings here with the MoDOT Traveler Information Map.

We’ve had widespread reports of between two and four and a half inches of rain falling across the Ozarks over the last 48 hours, with a report of 6.7 inches near Northview, 5.25 inches southeast of Marshfield, and 5.5 inches west of Anderson in McDonald County.

A woman had to be rescued when her vehicle went off the side of a bridge near Marshfield and was swept 100 feet in the Niangua River.

The Marshfield Fire Department, Webster County Sheriff’s Department and CoxHealth assisted in the rescue as they got the passenger door open and the woman climbed out. She was taken to the hospital to get checked out, but appeared to be okay.

A Flood Watch continues until 6 p.m. Saturday, with a break in the rain expected in the Springfield metro area during the afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service says a cold front will push through Sunday, bringing another round of showers and thunderstorms to the Ozarks, with the potential for heavy rain and an addition one to two inches expected.

We are not expecting severe weather either Saturday or Sunday.
