Strong to severe thunderstorms are a good bet in southwest Missouri Wednesday, with all modes of severe weather possible from late morning through the afternoon in areas along and east of Highway 65.
Strong storms have moved through the western Ozarks through early afternoon, but the National Weather Service believes these storms will intensify as they push east of the Highway 65 corridor.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for areas east of the Interstate 49 corridor, including the Springfield metro area, through 7 p.m.
Large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible, especially in the eastern Ozarks.
The first line of storms that moved through the area around 7 a.m. Wednesday produced heavy rain and hail, with reports of quarter size hail at Nixa High School, with several hail reports in the Nixa area and southeast Greene County.
