Springfield Police have identified the victim of a fatal Thanksgiving Day car accident on North Glenstone.
Police say that 52-year-old Daniel Roberts of Republic died in the accident between a Ford Focus and a Honda Accord in the 2600 block of North Glenstone just before midnight.
Roberts was the passenger in the Honda Accord which had been traveling northbound on Glenstone. The driver of the Accord turned left into 2601 North Glenstone when the Honda was struck on the passenger side by the Ford.
Roberts was transported to Mercy Hospital where he died of his injuries.
The SPD’s Traffic Unit of the Uniform Operations Bureau are investigating the circumstances of the crash, although they say impairment is not suspected as a factor.
This is the 23rd fatal crash and the 25th crash related death of 2020 for the city.
