Storm System May Bring Ice and Snow to the Ozarks for New Year’s Day

A couple of different systems will bring wintry weather to the Ozarks this week.

The National Weather Service says light wintry precipitation is possible across parts of southwest Missouri Tuesday morning, but little to no impacts are expected.

Warming temps will quickly turn that wintry mix to all rain by mid to late morning.

Then, attention turns to the Thursday/Friday time frame, with the possibility of wintry precipitation moving into the Ozarks during the day on New Year’s Eve.

Forecasters say the track of this system is uncertain, and that will ultimately have large implications on the amount/type of wintry weather Thursday night into Friday.

Models support winter weather with this system and confidence is increasing we’ll see freezing rain, sleet or snow, but until the system moves onshore, the weather service won’t have all the details on types and amounts.

Forecasters say you should consider making alternate plans for any activities scheduled for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
