Sunday Update: More Rain and Flooding Potential Through Monday Morning

Even as a number of roads remain closed due to flooding from Thursday through Saturday across the Ozarks, another one to two inches of rain are expected starting Sunday afternoon, with locally higher amounts possible.

We’re expecting between one and a half to two inches of new rain totals in the Springfield metro area, with lesser amounts west of Springfield along the Interstate 49 corridor.

Here’s the latest on flooded roads in southwest Missouri and around the state with the MoDOT Traveler Information Map.

The National Weather Service has issued another Flood Watch, running from 1 p.m. Sunday through Monday morning.

Every county in southwest Missouri comes into Sunday with a flood warning in effect from the widespread two to five inches that fell since Thursday.

After a break in the active weather Monday and Tuesday, thunderstorms will move into the Ozarks late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

There is the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms, with the highest chances along and west of Highway 65.
