A male suspect is dead after an hours long standoff in Kimberling City on Friday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a call was made to the Kimberling City police Friday morning about a burglary. The suspect went to a condo at the Port Holiday condos that was empty at the time, fired off several shots, then returned to their condo.
The standoff included a hostage, which police said was likely the roommate of the suspect.
After the confirmation of the hostage situation, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Stone County Sheriff’s Office joined the Kimberling City police in dealing with the incident.
Just after 8 p.m., the suspect fired shots, and law enforcement responded by throwing a flash bang into the condo. The MSHP confirmed a trooper shot the suspect once, killing him. The hostage is in good condition.
The name of the suspect and hostage were not released by the MSHP. No police were injured during the incident.
