Flash Flooding in Parts of the Ozarks as the Severe Weather Threat Ends

11:00 a.m. UPDATE: The Tornado Watch for counties southeast of Springfield has been cancelled, and the severe weather threat has shifted into southeast Missouri. Flash flooding will still be possible with heavy rainfall in the Ozarks.

10:05 a.m. UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for eastern Ozark County until 10:30 a.m. A severe storm is located near Gainesville, moving northeast at 60 miles per hour. Hazards include 60 mile per hour wind gusts as the storm moves through Gainesville, Brixey, Tecumseh, Rockbridge, Hardenville, Sycamore, Dora and Zanoni. Also, a Flash Flood Warning has been issued for eastern Douglas, Ozark, and Howell Counties until 4:00 p.m. Doppler radar shows storms producing heavy rain. Between one and two inches of rain has fallen, with additional amounts of one to two inches possible.

9:45 a.m. UPDATE: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for eastern Douglas, northwestern Howell and southern Texas Counties until 10:30 a.m. 60 mile per hour winds are possible as the storm moves through Drury, Vanzant, Willow Springs, Pomona, Summersville and Cabool. Also, the Tornado Watch has been cancelled for Christian, Taney and Webster Counties as the severe threat has ended in those areas. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1:00 p.m. for Douglas, Howell, Ozark and Wright Counties.

9:20 a.m. UPDATE: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Ozark County until 10:00 a.m. 60 mile per hour winds are possible as this storm tracks across Bull Shoals Lake and through the communities of Gainesville, Theodosia, Tecumseh, Dora, Bakersfield, and Pontiac.

9:15 a.m. UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southeastern Greene, Christian, Webster, northwestern Douglas, northeastern Stone, and southwestern Wright County until 1:00 p.m. Doppler radar indicates thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area. Between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen, with additional amounts up to one inch possible. Flash flooding is ongoing, or expected to begin shortly in southeast Springfield, Nixa, Ozark, Marshfield, Strafford, Highlandville, Rogersville and Seymour.

7:50 a.m. UPDATE: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for central Douglas County has been cancelled. The storms that prompted the warning have weakened below severe limits.

7:32 a.m. UPDATE: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northeastern Taney and northwestern Ozark Counties is cancelled. The warning remains in effect for central Douglas County until 8:00 a.m.

7:05 a.m. UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northwestern Ozark, Douglas, and Northeastern Taney Counties until 8:00 a.m. Severe storms were located along a line extending from 14 miles southeast of Sparta to 10 miles east of Taneyville to 12 miles north of Diamond City, moving northeast at 45 miles per hour. 60 mile per hour winds and penny size hail are possible as the storms move through Ava, Squires, Goodhope, Wasola, Vanzant, Bradleyville and Drury.

6:45 a.m. UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for eastern Taney County until 7:30 a.m. Storms will produce up to 60 mile per hour winds and penny size hail as they pass over Lake Taneycomo and affect the communities of Kissee Mills and Bradleyville. The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Webster County is being allowed to expire at 6:45 a.m.

6:10 a.m. UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Webster County until 6:45 a.m. 60 mile per hour winds are possible. A tornado is also possible. The storm will impact Marshfield, Fordland, Diggins, Northview, Seymour, and Niangua.

The National Weather Serviced has issued a Tornado Watch until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday for counties south and southeast of Springfield.

Storms that move through the eastern Ozarks Wednesday morning have the potential to produce damaging wind gusts of 60 miles per hour, hail up to the size of quarters, and isolated tornadoes.

Counties under the Tornado Watch include Christian, Webster, Douglas, Howell, Ozark, Taney and Wright.
