Trial Continues for Northwest Arkansas Man Charged in January 6 Riots

A man from Gravette, Arkansas is on trial in connection with the January 6 riots.

Court records show that three witnesses are on the docket to testify against 62-year-old Richard Barnett.

Prosecutors have charged Barnett with eight federal charges in the case as a part of the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

The jury trail against him started on Tuesday, and on Wednesday three witnesses were called to the stand.

They included a member of Nancy Pelosi’s staff, a police officer at the Capitol, and a co-worker of Barnett’s at the Bass Pro Shops location in Rogers, Arkansas.

Barnett has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges he’s facing, which include:

  • Obstruction of an official proceeding
  • Aiding and abetting
  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon
  • Entering and remaining in certain rooms in the Capitol Building
  • Disorderly conduct in a Capitol Building
  • Parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol Building T
  • heft of government property.
