Troopers Shoot Man with Assault-Style Rifle at Troop A Headquarters in Lee’s Summit

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a man with an assault-style rifle has been shot by troopers at the Troop A headquarters in Lee’s Summit.

Authorities say shots were heard outside the building around 9:40 p.m. Monday.

Troopers responded to an exterior doorway, where the suspect was seen holding the rifle.

He approached the main entrance to the building and fired multiple shots.

Troopers gave the man verbal commands, but after he failed to comply, they fired shots at him.

The man was wounded, and taken to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition Tuesday morning.

No law enforcement officers were injured.

A patrol spokesman says the man was there to do some harm, and troopers did what they had to do to make sure they and everyone in the building was safe.
