Wake up Springfield with Alex and Chris

Two new voices are coming to Wake Up Springfield as Alex Bryant and Chris Russell debut as co-hosts on Monday, August 7th.

With a daily look at life through a conservative lens, Alex and Chris, both pillars of the local community, bring our listeners up to speed on the news of the day, interviews with local newsmakers and entertaining and engaging topics affecting life here in the Ozarks.

Alex and Chris join Producer Cass Bowen-Anderson and News Director Don Louzader each weekday morning from 5:30-9AM on 93-3 and AM 560 KWTO.

Meet Alex Bryant:

Alex Bryant moved to Southwest Missouri in 1991 to attend Evangel University in Springfield. After playing on the most successful football team in Evangel’s history, Alex graduated in 1995 with degrees in both Biblical Studies and Business Management. He went on to earn a Masters Degree in Leadership and MInistry in 2020. The early years of Alex’s career were spent in the business world. Before he turned thirty years old, Alex was managing a sales team of over two hundred people. Around that time, Alex decided to leave the business world and became a licensed minister. He has held positions at churches across Missouri and currently is the Executive Director of the para church organization, Alex Bryant MInistries which has the goal of promoting biblical reconciliation around the country.

Alex and his wife, Angela have been married for twenty-eight years and have five children ranging in age from twenty-two to thirteen years old. Their family works together to serve the needs of people whether that be in local churches or in school and civic opportunities. That passion for serving the community led Alex to throw his hat in the ring to replace former Representative Billy Long for Missouri’s Seventh Congressional District in November 2022. After that seat went to Representative Eric Burleson, Alex won a seat on the Nixa Public School Board in April of 2023.

Meet Chris Russell:

Chris was born and raised in the Ozarks, residing in Nixa where he has been a big part of the community for many years, including graduating from Nixa High School in 1993. He served with his father (who was the Nixa Fire Chief) as a volunteer firefighter for many years and has been the Friday Night Football announcer for Nixa Football since 1997. Chris has volunteered his time and knowledge for many local non-profits, committees, and served on the Nixa city council from 2012-2018.

Professionally, Chris started out in a career in radio for many years in the 1990s on local Springfield stations as an on-air talent until eventually landing positions in banking, Real Estate, and most recently serving as the Nixa Chamber of Commerce President/CEO. There have been many community events over the years around the Ozarks that you may have heard him emceed and hosted as well. He has a strong passion for helping businesses grow through coaching, consulting, and marketing. When not on the show, he works with Zimmer Communications and Fuse32 Marketing behind the scenes.

When he is not working or volunteering his time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, camping, hunting, fly fishing, target shooting, metal detecting, sports card trading, or watching pretty much anything related to Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, and more.

As a man of faith and strong moral values, he looks forward to having amazing conversations with the KWTO Listeners and exploring life through the eyes of a conservative lifestyle.
