Willard Teen Dies in Car Crash

 17-year-old girl from Willard is dead and another injured after a one-car accident near Ebenezer on Monday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 1997 Saturn driven by 17-year-old Aleiyah Smith left the road at 4:30 p.m. nearly five miles north of Springfield on Farm Road 60. The car struck a utility pole before driving through a field and flipping.

Smith died at the scene.

Her passenger, 17-year-old Alexis Greene, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.

Smith is the 104th traffic related fatality for Troop D in 2020.
