Lay-offs at Ozark County Sheriff’s Office

The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office has laid off several staff members and two deputies.

Sheriff Cass Martin says the layoffs were forced by rising costs and declining sales tax revenue. Martin says he worked with county commissioners to find ways to solve the departments budget deficit, but in the end layoffs were unavoidable.

Ozark County Presiding Commissioner John Turner says the layoffs wont bring savings immediately, but could get the department within budget by the end of the year.
