A Few Severe Thunderstorms Possible Friday Evening

The National Weather Service says thunderstorms will develop Friday evening across southern Missouri.

Forecasters say some of those storms may be severe with frequent lightning, large hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

The risk for tornadoes is very low.

The highest chances for thunderstorms will be south of Interstate 44.

Areas south of I-44 are under a Level 2 “slight risk” for severe weather, with areas north of Springfield under a Level 1 “marginal risk” for severe storms.
