Much of the Ozarks, including the Springfield metro area, is under the gun for severe weather, including tornadoes, Monday afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service says areas from Branson to Springfield and Lebanon and Lake of the Ozarks down to Stockton, Joplin and Pineville are under a level 3 out of 5 enhanced risk for severe weather.

Forecasters say the main hazard is damaging winds up to 80 miles per hour and hail up to the size of quarters, but tornadoes, including a strong tornado or two, are possible if all the ingredients come together.

Flash flooding is also possible with a Flood Watch in effect through Tuesday morning. By Monday morning, flash flooding was occurring in the southeastern Ozarks, with 4-6 inches of rain having fallen since Saturday night.
