What We Know: A leadership change is coming to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

What It Means: The Greene County Commission will officially accept Sheriff Jim Arnott’s resignation Tuesday morning and appoint Captain Jason Johnson as interim sheriff.

Arnott was confirmed by the U.S. Senate earlier this month to serve as U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Missouri.

Johnson was the only person to apply for the interim sheriff position. He will serve through December 31.

What’s Next: Greene County voters will choose a new sheriff in the November election.

The commission will make the transition official during its Tuesday meeting at 9:30 a.m.
