The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office announced they have arrested a person of interest in a deadly shooting on Monday.
Deputies arrested 42-year-old Brian Dunaway following their arrival at a home in Theodosia where they found a 27-year-old victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim later died at the scene.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
According to reports, Dunaway said he was attempting to stop a fight between the victim and his girlfriend when he said the victim rushed towards him.
That is when, according to Dunaway, he shot and killed the victim. When officers arrived, Dunaway was still at the scene.
Authorities found methamphetamine on his person at the scene, which Dunaway admitted to consuming prior to the incident.
Dunaway faces charges of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. He is being held in the Ozark County Jail without bond.
