Billings man sentenced to life in prison for 2025 shooting in Lawrence County

A judge in Lawrence County sentenced the man responsible for a 2025 shooting to life without parole.

What We Know: Austin Stone of Billings was found guilty of first-degree murder in May of this year and was sentenced to life without parole on July 2nd.

Stone also received another life sentence and 25 additional years for other charges including armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm.

Stone shot and killed a man on March 30, 2025 in Lawrence County  at a residence on Farm Road 2240 near Aurora.

Stone’s lawyer requested a new trial in June, but the motion was denied by the judge at the sentencing.
