A man and four children from St. Joseph were injured in a boating accident at the Lake of the Ozarks Monday, adding to the growing number of accidents at the lake this year.

What We Know: A 42-year-old man was driving a 30-foot boat when it hit a partially-submerged log in the water at the 38.8-mile marker. The man as well as two 12-year-old and two 13-year-old boys received minor to moderate injures due to the crash. They were all transported to Lake Regional in Osage Beach. The boat was damaged and towed away from the scene.

What They’re Saying: Missouri State Highway Patrol says they responded to the crash at around 11:30 a.m. Monday. They found none of the passengers wearing a life jacket, though it is not stated whether they had them on board. None of the injures sustained by the passengers appeared to be life-threatening. The report states that the driver did not have insurance for the boat. MSHP reports zero boating fatalities for the Memorial Day weekend.
