It’s a tragic end to the search for a missing couple in their 70’s who disappeared from their home in McDonald County back in September.
What We Know: Sheriff Robert Evenson is confirming two bodies have been found near the 4500 block of East State Highway 76 in Anderson. The sheriff says at around 4pm on Sunday, a property owner called to report a deceased person, and when detectives responded to the scene, they located a second body in the area.
The bodies were located in a heavily wooded area adjacent to the property of Leo Lindeman, 73, and Katherine Lindeman, 74.
The sheriff says a dog was found alive and in close proximity to one of the bodies. The couple’s small, white poodle was reported missing in September, along with the Lindeman’s.
The couple’s cell phone and all of their medication had been left in the house, and for awhile, it appeared the couple had simply vanished without a trace.
What We Don’t Know: There’s been no information released on a possible cause of death for the Lindeman’s, and the sheriff says formal identification is expected to be made later this week, pending autopsy results.
National Attention: Since the couple was reported missing on September 24th, the case has attracted national attention, with NBC’s Dateline doing a story.
