Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) crews began work this week on two bridges in Branson that stretch over Lake Taneycomo.

The Branson Landing Boulevard Bridge and the Missouri Route 76/Business 65 bridge are a part of a much larger $2.2 million MoDOT project across the Branson area.

Jason Evenden, a MoDOT resident engineer, the two bridges are still in good condition, so the construction work is less damage repair work and more preventative maintenance.

The Branson Landing Blvd bridge was closed on Monday for resurfacing work and reopened on Tuesday.

Work on the Missouri 76/Business 65 bridge was planned to start today, but due to weather concerns, MoDOT has pushed the start to Monday, September 22.

MoDOT says that the first 30 days of construction on the 76/65 bridge will impact traffic little, as crews will be mainly doing groundwork below the bridge until October 17th.

Once the groundwork is done, all of the bridge’s lanes will be closed for a month, meaning the estimated 13,000 drivers that take the 76/65 bridge daily will need to find an alternate route.

There will also be detour signs along Route 65 and Business 65, and signs posted to alert drivers the closer they get to the work zone.
