In a unique way to celebrate Flag Day, community leaders in Branson are set to make a Guinness world record attempt.
What We Know: Sunday, June 14th, Branson will be making a record attempt for the largest flag mosaic on the top level of the Branson Convention Center parking garage.
The effort was made possible by collaboration between Explore Branson, the City of Branson, the Branson Chamber of Commerce, and dozens of community volunteers and involved nearly two years of planning and development.
The plan is to have the mosaic be made of more than 500 U.S.-made flags and will be approximately 1,400 square feet. Officials say using specialized flag-folding techniques, the design will form Explore Branson’s logo and a star.
What It Means: The public is invited to watch the final touches of the mosaic be completed starting at noon, before the Guinness World Records adjudicator will review it and declare the record has been achieved.
Once the record has been made, the mosaic will be deconstructed and each flag used will be sold for $20. Proceeds will go to the Veteran Memorial Garden.
To continue the Flag Day celebration, a parade will begin at 4 p.m. following the historic world record.
