Bus Stop Near Sex Offenders Sparks Change by SPS

The Springfield School District has changed a bus stop because it was near the homes of two sex offenders.

A parent alerted district officials that Pershing Middle School students would have to walk past the homes to get to and from the bus stop.

Deputy Superintendent Travis Shaw says the district tries to keep bus stops at least 500 feet away from sex offenders.

Information from the Highway Patrol shows the two offenders living near the original bus stop were convicted of crimes against minors.
