Springfield City Council has been presented with a feasibility study on a potential convention and events center.

There are no official plans, but the study did say the best location for the center would be in the downtown area.

The report says the cost of the center would be estimated at $175 million to build plus there would need to be a hotel connected with at least 400 rooms.

Mayor Jeff Schrag says he hopes the center would be built by 2028.
