What We Know: College of the Ozarks recently welcomed members of the American Jersey Cattle Association to its W. Alton Jones Dairy during the organization’s annual meeting in Springfield.

What It Means: The visit gave guests a firsthand look at the college’s student-run dairy operation.

Students handle the daily work of feeding and milking the cows, maintaining the farm, and processing milk that’s served across campus, including at The Keeter Center.

Before the tour, students spent weeks preparing the dairy by cleaning, painting, landscaping, and getting the facilities ready for visitors.

Association members toured the milking parlor, processing room and cattle barns while students explained how the dairy operates and shared what they’ve learned through the college’s Work Education Program.
