What We Know: Young people in Springfield who are facing life without a place to call home are getting some extra help.
What’s Next: KVC’s Empowering Youth Transition Program works with young people ages 16 to 21 who are unsheltered or at risk of becoming unsheltered.
The program helps them find stable housing while also teaching everyday skills, like managing money, keeping up a home, and finding a job.
One participant, Chloe Keeling, says she expected to be without a home after graduating from high school. She says the program helped her find housing, learn to drive, get a job and connect with therapy.
What’s Next: Program leaders hope to expand the effort and reach more young people across southwest Missouri.
