The search that began Sunday has resumed Monday morning with the three still missing believed to no longer be above the surface of the water.
What We Know: One juvenile girl that was rescued Sunday night is in the hospital recovering according to officials. Three members of the rescue team were injured when recovering the girl and were sent to the hospital as well. Two have been released and the third stayed at the hospital overnight.
The three missing people remaining in the water have not been located since rescue efforts began. Springfield Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team have determined they are likely no longer above the water’s surface.
What They’re Saying: Fire Chief Pennington says, “We have searched everywhere they could be above water. We do not believe them to be at the surface.” Authorities say that efforts have switched to “recovery rather than rescue.”
What Remains Unclear: This is an ongoing situation. Lake Springfield and the Boathouse remain closed as crews work.
