Severe thunderstorms producing large hail up to the size of golf balls, damaging winds of 70 to 80 miles per hour, and tornadoes will all be possible in the Ozarks Friday evening into the overnight hours, especially north of Interstate 44.

Areas north of a line from Grove, Oklahoma to Lebanon and Rolla are under a Level 3 “Enhanced Risk” for severe weather, while the Springfield Metro area is under a Level 2 “Slight Risk” for Friday night.

The National Weather Service says the main hazard looks to be damaging winds.

Heavy rainfall Friday night could lead to additional flooding along and northwest of I-44, where a Flood Watch is in effect from 6pm Friday through 7am Saturday.
