Deadline for Expungement of Certain Marijuana Convictions

Thursday is the deadline for Circuit Clerks to expunge misdemeanor marijuana convictions from people’s records.

Ammendment three, passed last November, requires the automatic expungement of misdemeanor marijuana convictions involving less than three pounds.

More than 44 thousand marijuana cases have already been expunged.

Some counties won’t meet the deadline because older case files are only available on paper and have to be checked by hand.
