What We Know: A Springfield-area nonprofit is helping new mothers and their families get the support they need, both before and after their babies are born.
What It Means: Kimberly Costello, CEO of the Doula Foundation, says the organization does much more than help women through pregnancy and childbirth.
It also connects families with housing, mental health services and other resources.
The foundation’s Blessings Boutique provides free diapers, clothing and other necessities for families in need.
Costello says volunteers and community donations help make those services possible.
What’s Next: And she says the goal is simple: give babies a healthy start and help families build a better future.
As Costello puts it, when families are thriving, the community is thriving, too
