What We Know: FEMA’s new online option makes flood insurance a little easier to get.
What It Means: The agency launched a tool that lets homeowners and other property owners get a quote and buy a National Flood Insurance Program policy directly through FloodSmart.gov.
To get started, you just need basic information about your property. From there, you can buy a policy online in a few minutes or work with an insurance agent.
FEMA says the service is available in nearly 22,700 participating communities nationwide, including eligible communities in Missouri.
What’s Next: The goal is to make it easier for people to protect their homes and finances before flooding happens.
