What We Know: One person died in a house fire late Sunday night near Fair Grove, and investigators are still working to determine what caused it.
Emergency crews responded to reports of an explosion at a home on Farm Road 22, just north of State Highway E.
Firefighters from the Fair Grove, Strafford, and Ebenezer fire departments were called to the scene.
What It Means: The home was heavily damaged and is considered a total loss. Much of the destruction was concentrated near the front of the house, where part of the roof collapsed. Investigators also noted signs of fire damage throughout the structure.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as Ricky Lowery, 61.
What’s Next: The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into what led up to the fire.
The incident comes about two weeks after another house fire on River Valley Lane near Fair Grove, less than a mile from the latest fire scene.
Authorities have not indicated whether there’s any connection between the two fires.
