Former Bus Driver in Springfield Sentenced for Sexual Exploitation of a Child

Prosecutors in Greene County say a former Springfield bus driver will spend over a decade in prison on sexual exploitation of a child charges.

42-year-old Gordon Roughton II pleaded guilty to the charges after investigators discovered he had been taken explicit photos of children will driving a bus for an area children’s program.

Police say the photos he took were later shared in a group chat with several other adults, which he admitted to being a member of.

Roughton was previously employed by Springfield Public Schools as both a substitute teacher and bus driver, and was also a bus driver for Springfield Catholic.

He was sentenced to 17 years in prison according to the Western District of Missouri Attorney’s Office.
