What We Know: If you’ve spent much time outdoors in the Ozarks, you know ticks can be a problem. Now, Webster County residents can get checked for a tick-bite-linked allergy at no cost.

What It Means: The Webster County Health Unit and Fordland Clinic are teaming up to offer free alpha-gal testing on Tuesday, November 3rd, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Alpha-gal syndrome can cause allergic reactions to red meat and certain other animal products after a tick bite.

Testing will take place at the Fordland Clinic on Barton Drive.

No appointment is needed, but testing is first-come, first-served.

Health officials will also have free tick prevention kits and information available.
