What We Know: Drivers are finally seeing a little relief at the gas pump.

The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline slipped below $4 on Thursday, landing at $3.999 per gallon, according to AAA. It’s the first time prices have dipped that mark below since March.

What It Means: The drop came after President Donald Trump announced an agreement with Iran aimed at easing tensions and opening negotiations over the country’s nuclear program.

The news helped push oil prices lower, which often leads to cheaper gasoline.

Oil prices have fallen sharply this month, with the price of U.S. crude dropping about 14 percent.

Experts say it could take time before drivers see major savings.

What’s Next: That means lower prices may continue to arrive slowly.

For now, though, drivers heading out for summer travel are getting a small break after months of higher fuel costs.
