Geography Experts Report Two Earthquakes in New Madrid County, MO

Officials with the United States Geographical Survey say there were two earthquakes in New Madrid County Tuesday morning.

According to the release, the first earthquake occurred at around 4:50 a.m. less than four miles from the town of Marston.

The second registered earthquake happened less than three miles north of New Madrid at around 6:20 a.m.

New Madrid and Marston, both located in the boot heel county, are roughly 10 miles apart.

The USGS says both episodes registered at a 2.2 on the Richter scale.

So far there are no injuries, and residents have said they didn’t feel the earthquake.
