What We Know: The organization sent 81 veterans and 81 of their guardians early Tuesday morning for their daylong trip.
They returned Tuesday evening after a whirlwind tour around the nation’s capitol and were welcomed by a crowd of people in the Springfield-Branson National Airport.
A live band played music as the veterans went through a tunnel of people holding signs and cheering for them.
What It Means: Veterans had the opportunity to see the memorials dedicated for those that served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
They were also able to tour the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial, visit Arlington National Cemetery and witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
